Description
This course focuses on building apps using low-code techniques to simplify, automate, and transform business tasks and processes with Microsoft Power Platform. It includes a 1-day Applied Workshop where participants will create an end-to-end solution for a fictitious company, involving a Microsoft Dataverse database, Power Apps canvas app, and Power Automate flows.

App Maker Audience Profile
App Makers are individuals who build solutions to simplify, automate, and transform tasks and processes for themselves and their teams. They possess deep expertise in their business domain and have basic skills in data modeling, user experience design, requirements analysis, and process analysis.

    • Lab 0: Validate lab environment
      • Suggestion: Walk students through accessing the lab environments in a follow-the-leader style to reduce time and troubleshoot issues.

  • Lab 2.1: Build a data model in Microsoft Dataverse
  • LP3: Microsoft Dataverse for Teams

  • LP4: Create a model-driven app in Power Apps

  • Lab 4.2: Compose a model-driven app
  • Lab 4.3: Import data
  • Lab 4.4: Create business process flows and business rules
    • Note: If pressed for time, use this lab as a bonus activity.

  • LP5: Create Canvas Apps in Power Apps

    • Suggestion: Walk through the components exercise with students in a follow-the-leader style.
    • Note: There is a bonus exercise at the end, optional for students with time.
  • LP6: Automate a Business Process Using Power Automate

  • LP7: Create and Use Analytics in Power BI

Day 3

  • Applied Workshop
    • Allow extra time to finish up labs if needed. Condense the Applied Workshop phases accordingly.
    • Based on the class size and skill level, you may not need the full eight hours. Check in with students regularly and adjust the schedule as needed.

  • Get Started with Copilot in Power Platform
    • Understand experimental, preview, and retired features in canvas apps
    • Build apps through conversation
    • Continue editing your app with Copilot (preview)
    • Add Chatbot control to a canvas app (preview)
    • Add Copilot control to a canvas app (preview)
    • Leverage Azure OpenAI Service in AI Builder (preview)
    • Add the Copilot control to the rich text editor (preview)
    • Use Copilot in the email rich text editor (preview)

  • Ensure to check in with students at regular intervals to gauge their progress.
  • Adjust the workshop and activities based on the class's pace and understanding.
